Project Manager Job in Cambridge - Permanent Role
We have a vacancy for a permanent project manager in Cambridge, preferably with between 2-5 years experience, from a Prince2 background and with experience working within the engineering industry. The role involves project managing a number of medium sized projects and some exposure to programme management would be advantageous. Preference will bie given to candidates who can demonstrate an ability to influence and direct team members unused to working in a formally managed project environment.

Functional Details
Main Functions:
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
- Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
- Co-ordinate Engineering resources to ensure the customers needs are satisfied, whilst ensuring that our client's business interests are maintained
- Determine and assess the need for additional resources as necessary during the project cycle
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations
- Conduct retrospective analysis and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
Other Functions:
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
- Track project milestones and deliverables
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyse results and trouble shoot problem areas
- Ensure that engineering documentation is complete and up-to-date
- Co-ordinate Engineering effort to resolve any customer issues
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
- Assist and advise the sales team as required
- Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
- Continuously review the product and look for cost savings and improvements as well as introducing newer technology into the product
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree level qualified in an Engineering related subject
- Have sufficient experience to demonstrate the required level of capability in each of the key competence areas above
Preferred Experience & Skills Required
- Direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all areas of process development and execution
- Excellent MS Project & MS Office skills
- Demonstrated experience in personnel management and the ability to manage multi-disciplined teams
- Experienced at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- React to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
- Persuasive, encouraging and motivating
- Ability to elicit co-operation from a wide variety of sources, including engineers, upper management, customers and other departments
- Ability to resolve conflicts within the project team should they arise
- Strong written and oral skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Adept at conducting research into project related issues and products
- Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
- The ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment is crucial
- Demonstrate a flexible approach during times of change and encourage others to follow
