Changing from an 0870 number to an 0844 number

From June 4th 2009 our telephone number will be changing from our old 0870 number (0870 393 0044) to a brand new 0844 Number (0844 493 3699).

On the first of August OfCom regulations are changing with regard to the use of NGN business numbers and companies will now be charged for the minutes used on incoming calls to their 0870 numbers. This is largely in response to consumer disatisfaction with call charges on 0870 numbers, and while we have always kept our call charges low enough that we never made money out of our 0870 number, it now makes sense for us to switch to an alternative 0844 number.

In order to make this transition we used 08numbers in Manchester, who made the change very easy for us indeed. They provided us with a great free 0844 number and all we needed to do to change numbers was to complete and return two short forms. For more memorable numbers, a good range of 0844 gold numbers and platinum numbers are also available, and you can opt for IVR solutions, call switchboard routing and geographic routing packages as well. Best of all, the 0870 number we ported from remains live so that we never miss important calls from customers who aren't yet aware that we have changed numbers.
